A project is underway to evaluate the costs of forest thinning operations in the western United States. The first part of the project is a literature review including papers from the West over the last 40 years on the costs of forest thinning operations designed to improve forest health and reduce fire hazard.
Simulator training for forestry equipment operators. In collaboration with multiple private companies and public institutions, the ERI trained a total of eight study participants to operate a forwarder in Corvallis, Oregon.
Four participants completed training on a simulator and four completed training on a real forwarder. Results from this study are currently being analyzed and will be used for training new forest machine operators. Previous Next. View Larger Image.
