Click to activate and use the control

I'm not sure this legal non-sense will ever be over until the patent expires, and I have no idea when that will be 10 years or more? I think we're stuck having to do this workaround for the meantime This behavor was introduced as an automatic windows upgrade, search for KB and uninstall it. Hi Jesse, Congratulation for your solutions!

I tried both and I opted for the function the 2nd solution , because without AddDom the first solution Internet Explorer keeps loading see at the Windows flag until you choose another page. The second solution works perfect on my computer and also on my hosted website I searched and tried other scripts from Internet, nothing works for the main page. Any idee? NOT being a javascript expert but nevertheless use javascript in my private web pages, where can I determine how this affect me and find a full description of what to do and why?

Hi Jesse, Thanks for your solution, I was looking for something that was cross browser and would work for a java applet. However, when loading the page it appear for a second and then the applet goes grey. Any idea what could be happening here? Thanks - best solution I've found so far - works with applets aswell but the applet params are not set right so it needs some tuning for that to work It looks like KB also includes the problem causing update.

Maybe someone should make a list of these. Hi Jesse! I'm developing a similar script since but i didn't know yours. I'm confused - the version of Dreamweaver I'm using 8 has a solution for this out of the box. The moment I open a page with embedded Flash it offers to alter the code and provides a js script to upload - and the activate to click link has gone. Maybe this was an upgrade at some point - but it's definitely there. I can hack Opera browser to bypass "Click here to activate and use this control"?

This is one of the only easy workarounds I've found that actually works to remove the click to activate, but has anyone else noticed that it kills animated gif's and know what I can do about that? Take a look at this solution with just 2 lines of code. Is there a way to activate the object if you load it dynamically using javascript? I load a PDF on a click of a link. Any ideas? Hi Jesse, I tried using eola. Is this something to be concerned about?

And why does it happen - I've noticed it happens with several of these Eola workarounds. Jesse, Another question. Zelaza - I'm not sure why it would cause the page to hang As for using 'defer', well that's actually partially how adddomloadevent works actually.

Has any one a work around regarding IE not stop loading the page?????? How to upload banner? How to upload logo? How do I change my contact details? How do I change my password? But if you want to programmatically activate this object when the JSP page or HTML page is loading then you can use the following methods to activate the active x programatically.

External script files can also modify an element's outerHTML property to achieve the same effect, as shown in the following example. The next example uses document. Because the next example uses the writeln function to insert the script into the original HTML document, the resulting control requires activation. To load a control without requiring activation, use one of the previous examples.

What are the different scopes in JSP? Encrypting Passwords in Tomcat using Servlets. Once the control is activated, it will function exactly as it did in previous versions of Internet Explorer. By default, the user interface of each affected ActiveX control object on a web page is blocked until the control is activated by the user. If multiple affected instances of the Runtime ActiveX Control are displayed on a page, each instance must be activated individually.

When a view file is loaded in an inactive Runtime ActiveX Control, any view file open processing will be executed as always. When the cursor is moved over the application workspace or the TAB key is pressed until the Runtime ActiveX Control is selected, a box is drawn around the Runtime ActiveX Control, and one of two tooltips will be displayed Figure 1 and Figure 2.

You can make some simple modifications to your web pages now that are compatible with existing versions of Internet Explorer and will give your users the same experience in both the current and future version of the browser.

Those modifications are described in this document. To create Web pages that load interactive controls that respond immediately to user input, you must use script to load those co ntr ols from external script files. You cannot write script elements inline with the main HTML page to load your control. If the script is written inline programmatically, the loaded control will behave as if it was loaded by the HTML document itself and wi ll require activation.

To ensure a control is interactive when it is loaded, the script must be loaded from an external script file. The techniques described in this document do just that. In addition to the ActiveX controls and plug-ins security settings listed in this help topic, you must have Active scripting under the Scripting section set to Prompt or Enable.
